LAM有了屬於自己專有疾病代碼了 『 J84.81 』

不用像早前那樣，要申請重大傷病或證明

得依附在其他相似症狀的代碼

使得有些病友屢屢於申請上卡關或無法通過申請

另外，美國FDA也通過Rapamune (sirolimus)   

也就是斥消靈

LAM也是其藥的適應症之一

The FDA on Thursday cleared Pfizer's Rapamune (sirolimus) for the treatment of lymphangioleiomyomatosis (LAM), 

marking the first FDA approved therapy for this condition. The US agency awarded priority review to Rapamune for this indication in February.

The approval of Rapamune, which was also granted orphan drug and breakthrough therapy designations for LAM, 

was supported by the findings of a clinical trial comparing Rapamune to placebo in 89 patients with LAM. In the trial, 

patients were randomised to treatment with Rapamune or placebo for 12 months, followed by a 12-month observation period. 

The primary endpoint of the study was the mean difference in the change in the forced expiratory volume in one second (FEV1).

The FDA noted that the difference in the average decrease in FEV1 during the treatment period between the Rapamune and placebo arms was 153 mL. 

Meanwhile, the decline in lung function continued at a similar rate in the two arms after treatment was discontinued.

Rapamune, which Pfizer obtained in its 2009 acquisition of Wyeth, 

was initially approved in 1999 for the prevention of organ rejection in patients undergoing kidney transplantation. 

In August last year, Pfizer agreed to pay $35 million to 41 states and the District of Columbia to settle allegations that 

Wyeth marketed the therapy for unapproved uses, 

after reaching a settlement of $490.9 million to resolve similar claims with the US Department of Justice.
